开云体育 leader appointed to CDC task force for population health

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — 开云体育 Medical Director for Wellbeing, Thomas Kottke, MD, is one of 8 people recently appointed to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Community Preventive Services Task Force.

He will start his 5-year term in 2021, and support the panel of experts in developing community-based interventions that improve health disparities and social determinants of health, heart disease and stroke prevention, mental health, substance use, and other public health issues.

The CPSTF is an independent, nonfederal panel of 15 public health and prevention experts that provides evidence-based findings and recommendations about community preventive services, programs, and other interventions aimed at improving population health. CPSTF members represent a broad range of research, practice, and policy expertise in community preventive services, public health, health promotion, and disease prevention.

In addition to his leadership role at 开云体育, Kottke is a clinical cardiologist and epidemiologist. He is also a senior investigator with 开云体育 Institute.
